Northampton State Hospital

There may be over 400 ex-patients buried in this field at Northampton State Hospital

The Northampton State Hospital Burial Site Project is working to have the cemetery properly memorialized, recognized as a distinct historical site, and to have the site cared fro with dignity and respect. Although records for the cemetery have been lost, 181 burials have been confirmed with another 413 probably burials at the stie. The location of the cemetery is known but there are no longer any grave markers there. Some have speculated that markers have sunk below the ground. You can learn more about the effort to restore the cemetery at Northampton State Hospital by going to this website: Northampton State Hospital.
